Volunteer at cow shelter shot at in Gurgaon

Police said the persons in the vehicle allegedly opened fire and Kumar sustained injuries on his hand.

A volunteer of a cow shelter in Gurgaon’s Basai village was shot at allegedly by persons illegally transporting beef. This is the second such incident in two days.

According to police, the incident took place at 4 am on Sunday. The volunteer, Amit Kumar (25), and five others were chasing a vehicle that they suspected was illegally transporting beef.

Police said the persons in the vehicle allegedly opened fire and Kumar sustained injuries on his hand. “He suffered a broken bone and was admitted to Apex Hospital in Dharuhera. He was discharged Sunday evening,” said Hira Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Pataudi police station. He added, “The vehicle they were chasing got away. We are investigating the matter.”

In a similar incident on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal expressway Saturday, police said two volunteers of a Gau Raksha Dal sustained injuries after they were shot at, allegedly by persons illegally transporting beef.
