Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain Thursday suspended two doctors, an assistant and an administrative officer of Raja Harishchandra Hospital, and terminated the services of two resident doctors at Ambedkar Hospital.
Jain said prima facie he found the doctors at Harishchandra Hospital were involved in cheating group D employees in payment of salaries. On the junior doctors at Ambedkar Hospital against whom he took action, Jain said they gave wrong blood to a patient who was critical.
“I had gone to attend an Iftar party and on my way back, I saw Raja Harishchandra Hospital. I went inside for a quick inspection. The security guards posted on contract and safai karamcharis made a complained of cheating by companies and doctors,” said Jain.

He said the guards should get Rs 9,500 or Rs 10,000 as monthly salary, but were being given Rs 6,000 or Rs 8,000. “I asked if the salary is transferred electronically, then how come this scam? They said they are marked absent on some days and money is deducted from the salaries. I sent a team for inspection and found the allegation true,” he added.
Jain said two companies that provided the contractual staff will be blacklisted and action will be taken against them. “Orders have been issued for police complaints against the companies, and statistical assistant Virendra Kumar, administrative officer Rajesh Kumar, and two doctors – Dr Rishi Anand and Dr Rupendra Kumar – have been suspended till inquiry,” he added.
The junior doctors at Ambedkar Hospital faced action for reportedly giving wrong blood type to a patient who came with her haemoglobin down drastically. The unmatched blood transfusion cannot be tolerated and the services of the doctors have been terminated, said Jain.

The Delhi government Thursday appointed Upma Narang, wife of late Dr Pankaj Narang, as civil assistant surgeon (dental) at Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences of MAMC. Her husband, a dentist, was beaten to death outside his home in Vikaspuri in April by a group of people over an argument. She met Health Minister Satyendar Jain after getting the appointment letter.
