Another official said rain water always increases the chances of more stagnant water points. Recently, the health department, during an inspection at Manimajra Motor Market, seized a large number of tyres, which could have become potential sources of mosquito larvae. According to the health officials, three malaria cases have been reported in the city so far. No dengue case has been reported yet. Last year, more than 1,000 dengue cases were reported from the city.
The health department also collaborated with the fisheries department to use gambusia fishes to eliminate the larvae.
