Renowned architect Bimal Patel,whose many works in the city include IIM-Ahmedabads new campus,the citys CG road and the controversial Sabarmati Riverfront,has been chosen to replace R N Vakil as president of the Center for Environmental Planning and Technology University (CEPT).

Renowned architect Bimal Patel,whose many works in the city include IIM-Ahmedabads new campus,the citys CG road and the controversial Sabarmati Riverfront,has been chosen to replace R N Vakil as president of the Center for Environmental Planning and Technology University (CEPT). Patel is an aluma of CEPT and went on to receive a dual degree in architecture and city planning from the University of California,Berkeley,and later a Doctor of Philosophy in regional planning. The outgoing president R N Vakil,became the president of CEPT in 2005.

Ladakh civil society groups will resume talks with the Centre on October 22, following a judicial probe into the September 24 violence in Leh ordered by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. The probe will be conducted by a former Supreme Court judge, while the meeting will address Ladakh's demands for statehood and Sixth Schedule status.
