Ahmedabad: Woman tutor held for ‘sexual abuse’ of minor

The tuition teacher had “run away” with her 16-year-old student nine days back.

The Ahmedabad police Saturday arrested a 39-year-old woman tutor for “sexually abusing” a minor boy, a Class X student, whom she had been giving tuition.

Ramol Police, where the FIR has been registered, said that since the case involves a minor, sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, will be added in the FIR against the accused teacher. Ramol police inspector P I Solanki said that the accused woman will be produced before a special POCSO court on Sunday to take her into further custody to investigate the offence.

Solanki said that the tuition teacher had “run away” with her 16-year-old student nine days back. Solanki said, “We have found that the boy and the accused had physical relationship. We are trying to get their medical tests done to ascertain it. He added that the duo had torn off their SIM cards and were using others’ phones to evade arrest. According to police, the duo wanted to get married after the boy became adult. “Before that, they were trying to find a shelter where they could live together for which they were looking for money,” Solanki added. While the woman is a graduate, who has been taking private tuition, the boy had failed in Class X board exams, police said.
