Now, with a modest target of 111 on the board, Pakistan will fancy their chances of leveling the series. Can they chase it down comfortably to make it 1-1, or will South Africa strike back hard with the new ball to defend this low total? We’ll find out soon. Stay tuned for the second innings!

Salman Mirza is up for a chat. He says that they saw that the ball was holding up and spinning too and adjusted accordingly. Adds that he just tried to stick to his plans and used the slower delivery to good effect, which comes from a lot of practice. Mentions that as a bowler, you have to be ready all the time, as you can be called upon to bowl at any time during the match. Says that if you get good support from the surface, you can get wickets in the Powerplay, and it is important to do that. Ends by saying that the conditions here are bowler-friendly, as it is a bit slow and keeping low as well.

Pakistan’s bowlers were right on the money from the very first ball, never allowing South Africa to gain any momentum. Salman Mirza and Faheem Ashraf were the standout performers, sharing seven wickets between them, while Naseem Shah and Abrar Ahmed chipped in with the remaining three. Mohammad Nawaz went wicketless but maintained relentless pressure with a disciplined spell.

A disappointing batting display from South Africa sees them bundled out for just 110 inside 20 overs. After being asked to bat first, the Proteas were rocked early, losing four wickets within the Powerplay. Dewald Brevis and Donovan Ferreira provided brief resistance, but regular wickets kept halting any momentum. Late cameos from Ottneil Baartman and Lungi Ngidi helped them scrape past the 100-run mark, but it was far from a performance they’d be proud of after winning the opening game in Rawalpindi.

PITCH REPORT - Vernon Phillander is pitchside alongside Urooj Mumtaz. He says that there is a beautiful covering of grass, and the ball will come onto the bat nicely here. Adds that the boundaries are not that big and the batters will enjoy it. Mentions that South Africa adjusted to the conditions quickly in the first game, and it is about hitting back of a length and top of off stump in sub-continent wickets. Says that they also used the width of the crease well in the first game.

Donovan Ferreira, the captain of South Africa, says that they wanted to bat first anyway. Adds that the first game was really good, but that is now in the past, and they want to focus on this one, as this is a new venue and different conditions. Mentions that there is always room for improvement, the bowlers did extremely well, but they need partnerships while batting first and avoid losing wickets in clusters. Informs that they have also made one change as Ottneil Baartman replaces Lizaad Williams.

Salman Agha, the skipper of Pakistan, says that the wicket looks a bit slow but expects dew to come in later on to make it a bit better. Adds that they want to brush aside the first game and make a fresh start in this game. Informs that they have made one change as Salman Mirza comes in for Shaheen Afridi to manage his workload.

In the series opener, after being asked to bat first, contributions from the top order and a late flourish from George Linde propelled the Proteas to 194. In reply, Pakistan never really found momentum as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals, eventually folding for 139. Reeza Hendricks set the tone at the top, while Quinton de Kock, just two games into his international return, will be eager to make a bigger impact. There was a brief stumble in the middle overs with Dewald Brevis, Matthew Breetzke, and captain Donovan Ferreira falling cheaply, and the trio will want to make amends.
