The stage is set for a thrilling second half of the match as Gujarat embarks on a challenging chase to overhaul Mumbai's total of 179. The stakes are high, with Gujarat eyeing a chance to dethrone Delhi from the top of the table. If Gujarat can achieve this feat within 18 overs, they will not only claim the top spot but also significantly boost their chances of advancing directly to the final. With only one game remaining, a successful chase would put Gujarat in a commanding position. Can they rise to the occasion and make a successful pursuit, or will Mumbai's total prove too steep to climb? The second half of the match promises to be just as thrilling.
Gujarat's bowling performance was decent, considering the challenging dimensions of the ground, particularly the short boundary on one side. While they didn't excel, they managed to keep Mumbai in check. The bowling unit shared the wickets, with all bowlers except Meghna Singh and Deandra Dottin claiming one wicket each. This evenly distributed wicket-taking effort helped Gujarat restrict Mumbai to a total of 179.
Mumbai's innings got off to a shaky start, with Amelia Kerr departing cheaply. However, Hayley Matthews and Natalie Sciver-Brunt steadied the ship with a 29-run partnership. The momentum was further built upon by Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur, who shared a 59-run stand for the third wicket. Throughout the innings, Mumbai forged several promising partnerships, but unfortunately, they lost wickets at critical junctures, preventing them from accelerating and posting a total closer to 200 or above. Kaur's half-century was a highlight, but her dismissal, along with other key wickets, restricted Mumbai to a total of 179. Encouragingly, most of the Mumbai batters, except Kerr, made valuable contributions with good little knocks.

On opening the innings, Kerr says that it has been a bit of a frustrating tournament with the bat for her and she just needs to value her wicket a bit more and hopefully, she can get the runs when it counts. Adds that they wanted to bowl first but the depth they have in the batting lineup is amazing and 170 was a total they looked at the halfway mark. Mentions that there is one short side and thankfully, she got a couple of overs where the leg side boundary is the bigger one and she tries to keep the stumps in play and says the biggest challenge for a spinner is to take away that power striking ability from the batters. On Shabnim Ismail, Kerr says that she is amazing and easily one of the best pacers in the women's game.
Ash Gardner, the captain of Gujarat, says that they knew it was a high-scoring venue but left a few runs in the field and could have got them down to about 160. Reckons that they knew they needed to chase it down in 18 overs to go to the top of the table but it is what it is. Mentions that a direct entry into the final is a safety blanket, but there are a lot of positives to be taken from this game. Adds that Kashvee Gautam is capable of opening the innings as well and admits that they haven't had that consistent opening pair but backing the players is what they want to do. A heroic effort from Bharti Fulmali but it wasn't enough for Gujarat and they are guaranteed a spot in the Eliminator game as their chances of a direct entry into the final have been washed away. Gujarat would have liked a bit more from the senior pros up top as a few of them got starts but got out in the 20s and if someone from the top 3 or 4 had gone on to make a fifty, things could have been different. The lower order too fought well but Gujarat remain without a win against Mumbai.
Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur led the charge with the bat and got Mumbai close to 180 runs. With the ball, they started decently, but after the five-over mark, the bowlers managed to pick up wickets at regular intervals. Shabnim Ismail was the pick of the bunch but after her spell got over, the rest of the bowlers failed to rip through the middle order and it turned out to be a close contest. Mumbai did manage to hold on, thanks to a couple of experienced campaigners bowling the final two overs.
