The final check-up of explosives and related arrangements for the demolition of the towers continued on Saturday. All work related to placement of explosives and connecting them is already complete, officials told PTI. The only element remaining was interconnecting the twin towers and placing a 100-metre-long cable from the structures to the exploder, from where the button would be pressed on Sunday, they said. On Saturday, BJP MLA from Noida, Pankaj Singh, met with the residents of of Supertech Emerald Court. “We had meeting with residents of the society along with Noida Authority officials. The residents have been assured that all safety precautions have been undertaken for the demolition tomorrow. Residents have been informed of all the equipments that have been placed in the vicinity including equipments for checking the AQI, along with anti smoke guns and sprinklers,” he said. A seven member comprising of the residents of Emerald court has been constituted to help evacuate residents. Gaurav Mehrotra, safety incharge, at emerald court said, “task force will ensure that everyone is evacuated safely, and we will also ensure that residents enter the premises only when it is considered safe.” (Express Photo)
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has declared a no-flying zone of one nautical mile airspace around the towers during demolition due to dust expected to emanate, as per the Noida Authority. (Express Photo)
The event, which takes around 13 seconds, will leave behind approximately 80,000 tonnes of construction and demolition waste, of which 50,000 to 55,000 tonnes will be used for filling the site and the rest will be sent to a construction and demolition plant for processing. (Express Photo)
