The Samyukta Kisan Morcha has distanced itself from the protest, stating, “A few farm unions who were part of SKM during the farmers’ protest 2020-21 are organising this. Jagjeet Singh Dallewal of BKU Ekta Sidhupur is leading the protest while the rest of the farm unions and leaders are not part of it.” (Express photo by Abhinaya Harigovind)
Ahead of the protest, security was ramped up at the Ghazipur, Tikir and Singhu borders of Delhi. According to the police, this was done to prevent any “untoward incident”. (PTI)
