Pawan Kalyan turns 48: Rare photos of Power Star

Pawan Kalyan dons many hats - actor, director, producer, screenwriter, philanthropist, stunt coordinator, singer and politician. Fondly known as Power Star, Pawan, who is the youngest brother of megastar Chiranjeevi, has been active in cinema since 1996. As the actor turns 48, here is a look at his journey through some photos.

He adopted the stage name “Pawan” after a martial arts presentation. Pawan Kalyan holds a black belt in Karate.

Pawan Kalyan made his debut in the Telugu film industry with Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi in 1996. Two years later, his film Tholi Prema won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu.

Pawan Kalyan ventured into direction with Johnny, a Telugu martial arts film. He starred in the titular role and the movie also featured Allu Aravind. The film flopped and Pawan hasn’t directed any movie since then.

Pawan Kalyan is known for his philanthropic work. He stared a charitable trust called Common Man Protection Force (CMPF) to assist poor people in states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Pawan Kalyan started his political career in 2008 as the president of the youth wing of Praja Rajyam Party, started by his elder brother Chiranjeevi. He then went on to start a new political party in 2014 called Jana Sena Party, after Chiranjeevi merged Praja Rajyam Party with Indian National Congress. (Photo: Pawan Kalyan/Twitter)

As the Jana Sena party chief, Pawan Kalyan contested and lost two seats in the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election.

Pawan Kalyan has been married three times and has four children. He is currently married to Anna Lezhneva.

Pawan Kalyan is the uncle of next-gen actors Ram Charan, Varun Tej, Allu Arjun and Sai Dharam Tej.
