Suman case: Police register case against 2 doctors,lab technician

After six months,the Chandigarh police is finally registering a case against two doctors and a lab technician of the Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH)- 16,who were found guilty by a magisterial probe for transfusing wrong blood to Suman that was meant for another patient last year. The wrong blood transfusion to Suman on December 16,had resulted in the death of the nine-month-old foetus and damage to Suman’s kidneys.

Pankaj Chandgothia,who had already filed a Rs. 1 crore compensation claim against the GMSH,16,Chandigarh on behalf of Suman’s family said that he personally met the station House Officer (SHO) of the police station sector 17,Ranjodh Singh and requested early action against the guilty doctors. “The SHO assured that the FIR will be formally registered tomorrow and immediate action taken against the doctors,”Chandgothia said. The SHO 17,when contacted said that he was waiting for the original LR file. “We will likely register a case on Friday,” the SHO said. Soon after the wrong blood transfusion case surfaced,the UT administration ordered a magisterial probe in the case. The probe later indicted House Surgeon Dr Manpreet,Intern Dr Navdeep and Lab Technician Kirti Sood of GMSH for negligence in the case. A criminal case on charges of causing death due to negligence was also recommended against the three.After the inquiry report was submitted to the UT administration,the file was lying with the LR for the legal opinion and almost after six months they have cleared the file and forwarded it to the police for necessary action.

After the clearance of the file from LR,the police is all set register a case against the two doctors and a lab technician on Friday.
