Submit financial details: HC to CBI

The Bombay High Court on Monday asked the CBI to provide details of the monetary transactions made with respect of allotment of flats in the controversial Adarsh society.

The Bombay High Court on Monday asked the CBI to provide details of the monetary transactions made with respect of allotment of flats in the controversial Adarsh society. A Division Bench of Justice Ranjana Desai and Justice R G Ketkar asked the CBI to mention how much money was paid in cash and cheque, and in what financial year the transaction was carried out.

The court was responding to a public interest litigation filed by activist Pravin Wategaonkar, which asked the court to direct the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to investigate charges of money laundering in the case.

“If the I-T department has any particulars,it may also file an affidavit stating the details,” Justice Desai added. The CBI has been asked to file its affidavit by October 3. The judges also asked the I-T department to speed up its probe into the source of income of the Adarsh allottees. “We expect the department to expedite the investigation as it is to be completed by September 19,” Justice Desai said.
