Patna serial bomb blasts: Detained persons released in Ranchi,raids continue

Police recovered black powder,materials used to make IEDs and pressure cookers during the raids.

Three persons detained in Ranchi in connection with the Patna serial bomb blasts have been released after interrogation even as raids On Monday continued in several areas of Jharkhand in connection with the blasts.

All the three detained after the blasts on Sunday were released after interrogation last night,a senior police officer said.

Soon after Bihar Police tipped off their counterparts here that some accused in Patna blasts hailed from the state,he said raids are being carried out.

Police recovered black powder,materials used to make IEDs,pressure cooker and extremist literature during the raids,he said.

Earlier,Bihar police was said to have claimed that India Mujahideen was behind the eight serial blasts in Patna as they named IM operative Tahseen Akhtar alias Monu as the mastermind of the attacks. Going by the sources,Akhtar,who belongs to Samastipur in Bihar,has motivated and set up several modules in Bihar. He is also suspected to have supplied explosives with the help of IM commander Riyaz Bhatkal.

One of the persons arrested on Sunday,Mohammed Imtiaz from Ranchi,is said to have links with Tahseen Akhtar.

Six persons were killed and 83 injured in seven low intensity serial blasts in Patna of which six bombs went off in and around the venue of Narendra Modi’s mega rally at Gandhi Maidan shortly before his address to a huge gathering yesterday.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday sought custody of Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal in connection with Patna serial blasts.
