After Patiala were restricted to a first innings total of 252 runs,it seemed it would be hard for them to earn the first innings lead. But after claiming the first innings lead by restricting Amritsar to 247 in their first innings,Patiala ended their second innings at 423 for 9 and stormed into the finals of the Punjab Inter-District U-19 Cricket Tournament for Dhruv Pandove Trophy on first innings lead basis.
Resuming at their overnight score of 211 for 3 in their second innings,Patiala did not give Amritsar any chance to stage a comeback into the match. The team lost their first wicket of the day in the form of Vicky Sharma who was bowled by Ashwani at an individual score of 36 runs off 117 balls. Sharma smashed five boundaries.
Gauravpreet Singh was then joined by Mehjot Sodhi and the duo added 67 runs for the fifth wicket before Sodhi was removed by Vikram Chaudhary. Gauravpreet also departed after playing a fine knock of 74 runs off 161 balls. Gauravpreet smashed 12 boundaries. Patiala innings was also propped up by Karan Kaila who played an unbeaten knock of 59 runs and also stitched a 41-run partnership with Bhavish Goel.
Patiala were 423 for 9 in 150 overs when the umpires called off the play as no outright result was possible. Vikramadit was the top scorer for Patiala in their second innings as he played a knock of 95 runs,while Karan Kaila remained unbeaten on 59 runs.
For Amritsar,Vinay Chaudhary claimed four wickets for 179 runs,while Ashwani Kumar picked up four wickets for 133 runs.

Jalandhar register win
In the second semi-final encounter played at Burlton Park,Jalandhar,hosts Jalandhar ended the challenge of Mohali with a win on the basis of a first innings lead of 248 runs.
Jalandhar resumed at their overnight score of 590 for 9 and could only add one run to the total. They posted a total of 591 in 150.4 overs.
Ovenight batsman Jagrit played a fine knock of 51 runs before he was run out by a fine throw by Birkanwar. Mohali could manage a total of 296 runs for the loss of four wickets in their second innings before umpires called off the play as no outright result was possible.
Mohali were well served by their openers Harpreet Singh and Ankit Pursharthy,who put together a 138-run partnership for the first wicket before Harpreet gave a simple catch to Abhishek .
Harpreet played a superb knock of 100 runs off 84 balls and smashed 16 boundaries and three towering sixes. Ankit Pursharthy contributed a superb knock of 79 runs off 156 balls and he smashed 11 boundaries. Birkanwar remained unbeaten on 39 runs,while Sachin Sohal added 35 runs to the teams total score.
For the losing side,Sidharth Sharma was the main wicket-taker with three wickets for 87 runs.
Jalandhar will now face Patiala in the final of the tournament starting from June 22.
