Meanwhile,ministry to officials: start turning the file boxes over

Mministry hopes the boxes contain the files sought by the CBI which are missing.

Amid the uproar over the missing coal block files,the coal ministry has asked some of its director-level officers to go to Coal Indias corporate office in the Laxmi Nagar area of Delhi and re-arrange the boxes containing some files.

The boxes are kept in vertical position and it would be difficult to open them. Director (Admn) was asked to coordinate with CIL office to keep all the boxes in horizontal position in a proper sequence, says the note issued by the coal ministry.

The ministry hopes that the boxes contain the files sought by the CBI which are missing all related to the allocation of coal mines from 1993 to 2007.

While the ministry is learnt to have thought of asking the companies that were allotted the mines to give copies of the documents,it was decided that this would not be proper.

The minister had set up a search committee headed by Additional Coal Secretary A K Dubey following a rap from the Supreme Court in May to intensify the search for the files required by CBI.
