A man reportedly died of dehydration and heat stroke in Jinjuwada village in Patdi taluka of Surendranagar district on Wednesday.
The police is now trying to ascertain his identity,adding that the post-mortem report revealed dehydration and heat stroke as the cause of death.
The locals residents had found the body. There was no injury marks and the post-mortem also negated any internal injuries. The cause of death was dehydration, said Investigating Officer,Jinjuwada Sub-Inspector V N Rabari.
The police said the 30-year-old man had died some 48 hours before Jinjuwada sarpanch Ratilal Makwana informed them about a body lying in the desert.
We havent found any belonging of this man from the spot. The police is trying to find his identity, said Rabari.
The officer denied reports that the man had died of starvation. The police said the man could be a salt pan worker. Labourers come here in large numbers to work in the salt pans in the desert.
