DGP orders probe into jailed Amarmani’s hospital visits

The police team escorting Tripathi also did not inform the Varanasi police officials about his getting admitted to the BHU hospital on September 3. Following he DGP’s order,Varanasi DIG Lalji Shukla suspended the erring policemen including a sub-inspector (S-I) and four constables this evening.

The neurology department of BHU,where Tripathi was admitted since September 3,discharged him on Monday evening and the procedure to bring him back to the Varanasi jail was in progress,confirmed the senior superintendent of the jail Captain SK Pandey.

Special DGP Brij Lal confirmed about the DGP taking serious cognisance of the matter and also said that he has ordered to constitute a medical board and get the expert opinion about Tripathi’s condition.

According to Pandey,the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court of Sidhhartha Nagar district where a case of Amarmani Tripathi is on trial had allowed him to attend the funeral of his mother on July 13.

While he was being taken to Maharajganj,Tripathi got admitted at Gorakhpur Medical College on July 14. Pandey said he received a letter from the medical college superintendent on July 15 intimating him about Tripathi undergoing treatment there.

While at the medical college,Tripathi filed another petition before CJM court of Sidhhartha Nagar to allow him to attend the rituals of his mother and the court allowed him for the same for July 23 and 24.

Later,Pandey added,the Gorakhpur Medical College referred Tripathi to SGPGI in Lucknow for treatment on September 2 and informed him in this regard on telephone.

In Lucknow,after the doctors at the SGPGI and the CSMMU refused to admit Tripathi,he came to BHU and got admitted there next day,the superintendent said.
