Canine terror in Valsad,one dead

Four dog bite cases were reported from Pardi taluka of Valsad district on Sunday. One of the victims died while three others are undergoing treatment in a government hospital.

Four dog bite cases were reported from Pardi taluka of Valsad district on Sunday. One of the victims died while three others are undergoing treatment in a government hospital.

Ayush Nayka (4) a resident of Rohina village,left home for a sugarcane field with his father,Mohan Nayka,on Saturday afternoon.

When Mohan entered the field,four stray dogs from a nearby field attacked Ayush. Hearing his cries,Mohan rushed to the spot and rescued his son. Ayush was rushed to a nearby healthcare centre where he is undergoing treatment.

Another incident of dog bite was reported in the same village in the evening. This time the victim was Viral (5),who was playing outside his house.

The boy’s mother Jayshree had gone to the village pond to wash clothes. Neighbours made a vain attempt to rescue the boy from the dogs. He was rushed to a private hospital in Dharampur where he was declared brought dead.

Later in the evening,dogs attacked six-year-old Deepa but she was saved on time by her parents.

The ordeal was still not over as stray dogs injured one elderly person identified as Raychand Patel. He was rushed to the nearby hospital.

The villagers had enough. They decided to contain the menace,and sarpanch Sushma Patel approached the Forest department for help.

But till Monday evening,nobody from the department had turned up in the village .

The Superintendent of Community Health Centre at Rohina village,Vibhuti Patel,said: “As a precautionary measure,we have requested villagers not to allow minors to play outside their homes.”
