Union Home Minister Amit Shah said Sunday that the BJP would end Naxalism in Chhattisgarh in three years if PM Narendra Modi is voted back to power for a third term. At a rally in Chhattisgarh’s Khairagarh, Shah urged people to vote for the BJP candidate from Rajnandgaon Lok Sabha seat – sitting MP Santosh Pandey – and said each vote for Pandey would help Modi become PM again. “You made him PM twice and he took Chhattisgarh forward. Make him PM three times, and we will free Chhattisgarh of Naxalism,” he said. Pandey will take on former CM Bhupesh Baghel of the Congress. Shah congratulated CM Vishnu Deo Sai and state Home Minister Vijay Sharma for increasing anti-Naxal operations. “During the Bhupesh (Baghel) government, anti-Naxal operations had come down, but our CM and HM have increased it. Over 54 Maoists have been killed, over 150 arrested and more than 250 surrendered. In 10 years, Modi ended Naxalism in the entire country, and now only its tail end is left. Give Modiji a third term and we will end Naxalism in three years,” he said. He also accused Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge of lying that BJP would change the Constitution and end reservation if brought back to power. “Until the BJP is in politics, we will not end the reservation given to different sections of society,” he said. Training his guns on Baghel, Shah recounted corruption allegations made against the former CM. “When you vote for the BJP, express your anger for Mahadev (referring to the Mahadev app case against Baghel) and press the button so hard that it will be felt in Italy,” he said. Shah also highlighted the abrogation of Article 370, and the increase in the budget for farmers’ and tribals’ welfare as achievements of the Modi government. Bringing up the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Shah said, “Chhattisgarh is the maternal home of Ram. You made him (Modi) the PM twice, and we did bhoomi poojan, won the case and constructed the Ram Temple”
