BJP’s Ramvir Singh Bidhuri wins South Delhi Lok Sabha seat by a margin of 1,24,333 Votes

South Delhi Election Results 2024: Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) new entrant, has secured a significant victory in the South Delhi constituency. Bidhuri received 6,92,832 votes, defeating his opponent, Sahiram Pehalwan of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), who secured 5,68,499 votes. The victory margin stood at a substantial 1,24,333 votes, marking a significant achievement for the BJP as it expands its presence in the capital city.

South Delhi Lok Sabha Constituency witnessed a tough fight between the BJP and the AAP. The BJP’s Ramvir Singh Bidhuri has taken on AAP’s Sahiram Pehalwan. Born and brought up in a family of farmers in South Delhi’s Tughlakabad village, Bidhuri, currently the BJP’s Badarpur MLA and Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, is a Political Science graduate from Delhi University’s Deshbandhu College. He joined the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in 1970 and was also an active worker of the Jan Sangh.

Sahiram Pehalwan is a Gujjar leader and second-term MLA from Tughlakabad. One of the senior-most AAP leaders, Sahi Ram Pehalwan, had earlier been with the BSP and a two-time councillor. He had also been the Deputy Mayor of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation. In 2019, the AAP had fielded Raghav Chaddha, currently its Rajya Sabha MP, from this seat 2019 against the BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri, who clinched the poll.
