Rahul Gandhi’s statement that the election fight is between ‘doralu’ (feudal landlords) and the ‘prajalu’ (common people) has drawn a sharp response from the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) and the BJP.
Speaking at various places in Jagtial and Armoor Assembly constituency Friday, Gandhi said that the BRS is a family’s party and it has teamed up with the BJP to defeat the Congress.
This election is a fight between ‘Dorala’ Telangana and ‘Prajala’ Telangana.
Congress’ 6 Guarantees will provide support to every family of Telangana.

He added that both the parties represent landlords and they have oppressed people. His remarks drew reactions Saturday from BRS MLC K Kavitha and BJP’s chief spokesperson K Krishna Sagar Rao.
“Rahul Gandhi, as expected, is making juvenile statements in Telangana. Doralu (feudal landlords) are no more in Telangana, that’s a distant past. Rahul is stuck in history and not in present or future. People of Telangana now need corruption free, dynastic rule free, democracy driven good governance, which only the BJP can deliver,” Rao said.
In a statement, Rao added, “Rahul’s intellectual bankruptcy is evident through his twisted and manipulated rants about how his mother has made Telangana a separate state. It’s shameful that Rahul has zero knowledge that Telangana was forcefully merged with Andhra Pradesh in 1956 by his grandfather and former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, which led to subsequent struggles of Telangana for self governance all the way from 1960.”
The statement added, “Rahul must be schooled even in contemporary politics. It was the Congress government at the centre which declared Telangana statehood in principle on December 9th 2009 and shamefully went back on its commitment on December 25, leading to hundreds of youths ending their lives in distress. Rahul must know that his mother Sonia Gandhi and her government played a low-level political game by tabling the Telangana Bill in Parliament when they lacked strength in both the houses.”
Rao further claimed, “If it’s not for the BJP, the Telangana Bill would have not been passed in Parliament. Rahul peddling lies and deceit openly is shameful. It’s the BJP which made the parliamentary approval possible for the formation of Telangana.”
The only relation that the Gandhi family has with Telangana is that of betrayal and lies.

BRS leaders said Gandhi was reading from a script written by local political leaders without understanding local politics. “The only relation that Gandhi family has with Telangana is that of betrayal and lies,” said K Kavitha.
Minister V Prashant Reddy in a statement said, “It is the Congress that is known for caste and regional discrimination. Rahul Gandhi is dropping the names of Nehru, his mother, father and grandmother while talking about KCR’s family rule. He is singing what he has been told to sing. He is reading from a script written by local corrupt Congress leaders.”
Reddy added, “Telangana is known for the irrigation projects, Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bhima, 24 hours quality electricity, residential schools, corporate level medical care in government hospitals, investment in new industries and creation of lakhs of jobs for the youth and the state has set an example as a pioneer in the fields. Rahul Gandhi should know this.”
In a statement, Kavitha said, “Rahul Gandhi is not a ‘Babbar Sher’, he is a paper tiger. Next time don’t just go to a ‘dosa bandi’ and eat dosa but go to the mother of a martyr of Telangana, then you will know the pain. Rahul Gandhi just reads whatever anyone writes and gives it to him. He does not understand the local situation, he does not understand local politics, and he does not respect or understand the local traditions or culture of this region. Telangana is a state which has the highest political awareness because we fought for our state, we gave our lives for our state.”
