(Express photo by Rohit Jain Paras) SETTING STAGE for a high-voltage campaign in poll-bound Rajasthan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government deserves a “zero” on the governance front and exuded confidence that the people of the state have made up their mind to vote it out.
“The public of Rajasthan has blown the bugle to get freedom from Congress’s misrule. In the last five years, the kind of government that Congress has run here, it deserves zero number. The Gehlot government has wasted five important years of the people of Rajasthan and of the youth here,” he said, addressing a public meeting in Dadiya village on the outskirts of Jaipur.
“I can see it clear, there will be parivartan (change) in Rajasthan. The Parivartan Sankalp Yatras that the BJP has taken out in every corner of Rajasthan have received great public support. This is a clear signal that the weather of Rajasthan has changed,” Modi said.
The Parivartan Sankalp Mahasabha addressed by the Prime Minister marked the culmination of the four Parivartan Yatras taken out by the BJP in Rajasthan ahead of the Assembly elections.
He said that across Rajasthan public anger against the Congress government is on the rise and mentioned issues such as the question paper leaks. He accused the Gehlot government of protecting the paper leak mafia and said that after the BJP government is formed in Rajasthan, strong action will be taken.
Referring to the murder of Udaipur-based tailor Kanhaiya Lal, the Prime Minister said how can investment come to a place where people are beheaded publicly and the government is helpless. He said: “This is not a normal crime. This is a result of the Congress’s policy of vote bank appeasement. When the Congress government, instead of taking action against terrorists, is kind to them, gives free hand to criminals, then who will have the fear of law?”
He said if a government cannot give security and a life of respect to the people, it has to go.
Even as suspense remains on who will be the BJP’s CM face if it comes to power in Rajasthan, Modi told his party workers that the only identity of the party is its poll symbol lotus. “I want to say this to all workers of the BJP that our identity and honour is only the lotus. Therefore, we will have to try to make the lotus bloom in every booth,” he said.
Highlighting the achievements of his government, the Prime Minister said, “I have come to Jaipur at such a moment when India’s glory has touched new skies. The entire world is praising India’s ability. Our Chandrayaan [Moon mission] reached where no country in the world could reach. Even countries that oppose India are confused and troubled by the success of India in G20.”
“India started work from its new Parliament building on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi. And the first work in the new Parliament building has been dedicated by the BJP government to our mothers, sisters and daughters,” he said, referring to the women’s reservation Bill. “I have not done this… this has been done by the power of your one vote. Your one vote selected me and I gave a guarantee to serve you. Today I have fulfilled this guarantee.”
“Friends, don’t forget, remember this, Modi means the guarantee of guarantee being fulfilled,” he said.
He also highlighted the law against triple talaq. “For several generations, injustice was done to Muslim sisters because of triple talaq. There was no ray of hope visible, but due to the desire to wipe off the tears of every sister, we brought a law against triple talaq. Lakhs of sisters have got justice due to this law,” he said.
Targeting the Congress, he said the party “never had the will” to empower the women.
“The Congressis who are today talking about women reservation, they could have done this work 30 years ago, whenever they got a chance, but the truth is that Congressis never wanted women to get 33 per cent reservation. Even today if they have come in support of the women’s reservation Bill, it is not out of their will but this is a result of the pressure of all of you sisters,” said the Prime Minister.
Modi urged women to remember that Congress and its “ghamandia” allies are strongly opposed to women’s reservation.
“They have announced that they will erase Sanatan from its roots, erase our identity. For some votes… the people of Rajasthan understand very well the benchmark of appeasement. I know that the ghamandiya alliance will bear its fallout in Rajasthan not only in (Assembly) elections but in all upcoming elections, they will be uprooted,” he said, targeting the opposition’s INDIA bloc.
“For India, this is a time of opportunities. For Rajasthan, too, this is a time of opportunities. If India’s stature is increasing, Rajasthan, too, benefits. We don’t want a government in Rajasthan that loses these opportunities,” he said. “In the coming years, India will be among the top three economies in the world, this is a guarantee of Modi. But for this, Rajasthan, too, will have to be brought among the leading states of the country. This can only happen when the lotus blooms in Jaipur, when Rajasthan gets a double-engine of development. For this, you will have to form a BJP government with a big majority.”
