As thousands of supporters gathered in the scorching heat at Morwa village in Chandrapur to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his first rally in the state in nearly 10 years, the common refrain among the crowd was that they have come only to listen and get a glimpse of the Prime Minister as they believed Modi returning to power was a foregone conclusion. Most of the supporters came from Vidarbha region, with some even coming from neighbouring states. They said that they came in the blistering heat just to get a glimpse of PM Modi and listen to his speech. "For us the election result and Modi coming back to power is a foregone conclusion," said a group heading towards the rally ground. As Modi reached the stage at 5:31 pm, the crowd welcomed him with loud cheers of “Modi, Modi” along with whistles that echoed throughout the venue. The crowd once again cheered as the PM started his speech in Marathi and greeted the people on Gudipadwa, the Marathi new year. During his speech, Modi seemed to have struck a chord with attendees who listened to him carefully and responded to his questions with loud cheers. Gopal Mihir, a milk trader from Chandrapur, who came with his brother Jagadish, said they are are not BJP workers, but since they hail from Gujarat, they were supporters of Modi and came to watch Modi's rally. When asked whether they think Modi will return to power again, the Mihir brothers in one voice said, “There is no doubt about him becoming the PM again. He has already won the hearts of billions of people and he is going to win again.” Sushil Akkewar, a shop keeper from Tukum village of Chandrapur said that he took a half day from his grocery shop to attend the rally. "Modiji has proved that he is different from Congress and has shown the results. Hence we support Modi. We are a group of over 50 people from the village who have come after taking a break from work just to get a glimpse of Modi and support him," Akkewar said. Anandraj Kadu, a farmer from Dhanora, said that he came with his whole family to support Modi and they wished him to return for the growth of the country. "We are supporting him because we are getting benefits from the schemes he had started for farmers and people living in villages. Ten years ago, we struggled for water and electricity, forget online banking and other development. But now we have all the facilities in our Village," Kadu and his family members claimed. When Modi started to return to the chopper after finishing his speech, hundreds of attendees thronged the place where the helicopter was.
