AAP Dediapada MLA and INDIA Bloc's Bharuch Lok Sabha candidate Chaitar Vasava on Wednesday kickstarted the Narmada leg of his election campaign, a day after the Gujarat High Court granted him relief until June 12 from the bail condition that prohibited him from entering Narmada district, where his Assembly constituency lies. Vasava, arrested in a case of extortion and assault of forest officials, was released on bail by the HC in January with the condition where will not enter Narmada district till the completion of the trial. One of the seven Assembly segments in Bharuch constituency is Dediapada in Narmada. Flanked by both his wives, Shakuntala and Varsha, Chaitar on Wednesday embarked on what was supposed to be his nomination rally from the Birsa Munda junction in Dediapada, but turned around in Bharuch, as the office of the returning officer was closed for Ram Navami. Chaitar said he would file his nomination early Thursday instead. The delay in filing nomination, however, did not deter the spirit of his supporters, who thronged the rally and danced to the tribal music that played along even as Chaitar made pit stops at temples of Lord Rama and Lord Shiva on the way, paying obeisance with both his wives. Speaking about his campaign in Dediapada, Chaitar said, "I am happy to be back in the midst of my people after so long. It truly makes me believe that truth can get tired but it can never be defeated. This fight is against the oppression of the BJP and I am confident that my entire Assembly constituency of Dediapada will support me in big numbers.” “There is paucity of time and so, I am planning to make the most of the days ahead by spreading out my campaign in Narmada district, where I have not been able to visit as the Lok Sabha candidate," he added. Chaitar's Swabhiman Yatra that had begun in February and concluded on March 13 as well as his second campaign, 'Tamaro Dikro Tamare Dwar (Your son at your doorstep)' did see the MLA visiting his constituency due to the bail conditions even as his wives and supporters conducted the outreach programmes with his life-size cut out. On Wednesday, Chaitar first joined the morning aarti of the Dev Mogra temple dedicated to tribal Goddess Yaha Mogi Mata. Thereafter, he arrived at his office, which he had last visited on December 14, last year, to address his supporters before he surrendered at the Dediapada police station in the alleged case of extortion and assault of a forest officer of November 2. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, meanwhile, held a roadshow in Bharuch town in support of Chaitar. "We don't come in surveys. We directly form government. No one predicted our victory in Delhi or Punjab. Neither anyone predicted that five of our MLAs will win in Gujarat nor that AAP will win Chandigarh mayoral polls. Those who believe that this is their country, they will be surprised this time after seeing the results," he told mediapersons later. WITH PTI INPUTS
