
Assembly Elections 2023 in India Highlights (October 5): Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues with his project-launching spree in poll-bound states with visits to Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur and Rajasthan’s Jodhpur on today’s schedule. Following his event in Jodhpur, the PM headed to Jabalpur, where he inaugurated a slew of developmental projects worth Rs 12,000 crore. Addressing a rally there, he targeted the Congress and asked “why they never gave Adivasis any national recognition”.
Earlier in the day, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of a slew of projects worth Rs 5,900 crore in Jodhpur in sectors such as road, rail, housing, gas pipeline, and clean drinking water. He also addressed a public rally and again raised the issue of the “lal diary” allegedly containing incriminating material against the Ashok Gehlot-led government. He also urged people to cast their “one vote” to bring BJP to power and “development to every corner of Rajasthan.”
Meanwhile, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was also in Madhya Pradesh today. And while Modi’s agenda includes unveiling a statue of tribal icon Rani Durgavati, Priyanka will unveil a statue of another tribal icon, Tantya Mama, at Mohankheda, besides addressing a rally along with state Congress chief Kamal Nath. This was Priyanka’s third visit to Madhya Pradesh in recent months, after Jabalpur and Gwalior.
"Rajasthan is at no. 1 rank in north India in terms of economic growth rate. The state’s GDP has increased by Rs 6 lakh crore in five years and will soon touch Rs 15 lakh crore by the end of this year and Rs 30 lakh crore by 2030," Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot said during the release of Congress' vision document 'Rajasthan Mission 2030' in Jaipur.
"By using technology, we removed the fake names of 11 crore people from the government offices...These people had made ways to rob treasure from the government offices...These 11 crore fake names were taking the share of poor people," PM Modi said while targeting the Congress.
Appreciating the contributions of scientists in India, PM Modi mentioned the recent 'The Vaccine War' film by director Vivek Agnihotri which depicts the race against time by Indian scientists to roll out an indigenous vaccine, Covaxin, at the height of the Covid pandemic.
"We gave free gas connection of Ujjwala to crores of women belonging to poor families. Earlier to get a gas connection, people had to roam around the houses of MP...On Rakshabandhan we made gas cylinders cheap...Yesterday, we made Ujjwala gas cylinder 100 rupees cheaper," PM Modi said.

"It is not Modi who can make Rajasthan number 1 in tourism. It is your vote," he said addressing the gathering.
Under PMUY, cooking gas connections are issued to women members of poor households, and the connection, stove, and the first cylinder are given free of charge. The per-cylinder subsidy of Rs 200, which beneficiaries get as a bank transfer from the OMCs, is also borne by the government as the OMCs are reimbursed for it.
Ahead of festivals like Navratri, Dusshera and Diwali, PM Modi announced the BJP-led central government's decision to reduce the cost of cylinders under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) to Rs 600.
The earlier price cut and expansion of PMUY, came ahead of Assembly elections in five states later this year and the Lok Sabha elections next year, was described by the government as its gift to the people on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and Onam.

- The integrated centre for ‘Trauma, Emergency and Critical Care’ at AIIMS Jodhpur will be developed at a cost of more than Rs 350 crore.
- The seven Critical Care Blocks across Rajasthan will augment district level critical care infrastructure benefiting people of the state.

Opening new front in the battle for Telangana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed on Tuesday that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had sought to join the NDA after the BJP's impressive performance in the December 2020 Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections.
At a public meeting in Nizamabad, after inaugurating several projects for the poll-bound state, Modi said he had declined KCR’s request as he did not want the NDA or the BJP to be associated with the BRS's “deeds”.
BRS leaders, including senior minister T Harish Rao, dismissed the claim. “Modi can say anything at any place. There is no truth in this,’’ Rao said.

"At around 11:15 AM, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and dedicate multiple development projects worth about Rs 5,000 crore at Jodhpur, Rajasthan, in sectors like road, rail, aviation, health and higher education," said an official statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) as per ANI.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will address a public rally in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, her third visit to the state in recent months, a party functionary said on Wednesday. The Congress leader will address the public rally at Mohankheda of Dhar district.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesman Surendra Rajput told reporters in Bhopal that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and MP Congress president Kamal Nath will address the gathering at Mohankheda after visiting the Jain shrine there.
She will participate in various events, including a welcome programme by the trustees of the Jain temple. Before addressing the rally around 12.20 pm, the Congress general secretary will also unveil the statue of tribal icon Tantya Mama, he said.
