Assembly Elections 2023 in India: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated several development projects, including the first 800 MW unit of phase 1 of the Telangana Super Thermal Power Project, and addressed a public gathering in Nizamabad, where he brought the Congress and the BRS under fire over dynasty politics and corruption, saying that these Opposition parties have made ‘loktantra‘ (democracy) into ‘loot-tantra‘. He claimed that after the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) wanted to join NDA. “He also asked me to extend support to him. I told him that due to his deeds Modi cannot be associated with him,” the PM added.
Earlier in the day, the PM delivered a speech at Jagdalpur, Bastar, where he said that even though Congress leaders have been clamoring for “Jitni Abadi Utna Haq”, the slogan stands in contrast with former PM Manmohan Singh’s stand who “used to advocate that the minority community should hold the primary claim to the nation’s resources.” “Does this imply that they (Congress) intend to diminish the rights of the minority?” the PM said, adding that for him the welfare of the poor is the ultimate goal.
Before that, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of multiple development projects worth Rs 26,000 crore in Chhatisgarh’s Jagdalpur, including a Rs 23,800-crore steel plant and several rail and road projects. At a public meeting in Nizamabad, after inaugurating several projects for the poll-bound state, Modi said he had declined KCR’s request as he did not want the NDA or the BJP to be associated with the BRS's “deeds”.
BRS leaders, including senior minister T Harish Rao, dismissed the claim. “Modi can say anything at any place. There is no truth in this,’’ Rao said.
BRS Politburo member B Vinod asked why Modi had raised this after nearly three years. “Why did the PM not talk about this till now? There is no truth in these claims,’’ Vinod said.

So far, the AAP has declared candidates on 39 seats for upcoming assembly polls in the state. It had released its first list of 10 candidates earlier last month.
The second list of candidates included Mamta Meena, a former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, who had joined the AAP during last month after she was denied a ticket by the saffron party from Chachoura. The AAP has fielded her from the same constituency.

Speaking at a public rally in Chhattisgarh, which is gearing up for elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked, "Bastar possesses some of the finest quality iron ore. The early visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the poll-bound states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan indicate a clear pattern — the PM connecting directly with the crowd and party workers and asking for votes for the BJP rather than regional leaders.
At a rally in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh on Monday, Modi said the party would contest the Assembly election on its “lotus” symbol. In Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur two days earlier and in Jaipur, Rajasthan, last Monday, former chief ministers Raman Singh and Vasundhara Raje did not even speak though they were present on the dais in their respective states.
In Bilaspur, Modi did mention Raman Singh a few times when he addressed the gathering but in the context of his time as CM. In Madhya Pradesh last Monday, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan spoke for just a few minutes but the PM did not acknowledge him by name during his speech, choosing to address those on the dais and those in the crowd as a collective.
The optics of the rallies are a clear indicator of the party’s strategy of not projecting a regional leader. Continue reading...

When their government was in power for three years, i.e., 2014-2016, the paddy procurement went down and you (Modi) also refused to give bonus as per a 2014 order. Now you say you will buy every single grain of rice at Minimum Support Price.” The issue of paddy procurement has always been a top election issue in Chhattisgarh.
