WWE WrestleMania 2024 Preview: The biggest professional wrestling event of the year, i.e., WrestleMania, is back with its 40th-anniversary show and is ready to deliver back-to-back nights of absolute sports entertainment with its jam-packed match card on both days. On the first day of the event, fans will get to witness Rhea Ripley squaring off with Becky Lynch for the WWE’s women’s world championship, Sami Zayn taking on the Gunther in order to put an end to his historic reign as the intercontinental and finally Roman and Rock taking on Seth and Cody, in order to finalise the stipulation for the main event of the night two between Roman and Cody.
However, along with Cody and Roman lighting up the main event of day 2, fans will also get to see the social media influencer and WWE superstar Logan Paul defending his title against both Randy Orton and Kevin Owens, Bayley challenging her former friend Iyo Sky for the WWE women’s championship and also the visionary Seth Rollins putting his title on the line against the 2024 elimination chamber winner, Drew McIntyre.
Although it is very hard to guess the ending of these matches, we have tried to analyse the momentum of the wrestlers going into the game and the WWE trend to come up with an early prediction for all the matches in our analysis.
Check out the complete prediction of the complete WrestleMania 40 match card:
The rekindled rivalry between Dominik Mysterio and his father, Rey Mysterio, along with the added members, such as Santos Escobar and Andrade, adds more depth to this match. Everyone was expecting Santos Escobar to go one-on-one against Rey Mysterio. However, at the last moment, WWE creatives decided to add Domikink Mysterio and Andrade to the mix to add more star power to the match. Even though Rey was supposed to be teaming up with the young Dragon Lee, but the luchador was attacked backstage on SmackDown, leaving him out of WrestleMania. The returning Andrade has since taken his place in the match, but it is the junior Mysterio, i.e. Dominik, who is more likely to pick up a win as he and Santos Escobar can be elevated as one of the top heels of the company, as they both possess the talent and charisma to pull it off.
Prediction- Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio def Rey Mysterio and Andrade
While Iyo Sky will be busy dealing with her former leader, Bayley, for the WWE women’s championship, the rest of her Damage CTRL teammates will have the tall task of fending off the newly formed alliance of Naomi, Bianca Blair and Jade Cargill. The latter are the favourites to pick up the win, as WWE would not want to start the career of one of the top future prospects of their company, i.e., Jade Cargill, on a losing note.
Prediction- Jade Cargill, Naomi, and Bianca Belair def Damage CTRL (Asuka, Kairi Sane, & Dakota Kai)
The ultimate ladder match is at the biggest stage of them all, and it is very unlikely that the champions, Judgement Day, will retain the title. However, to be declared the winner, one has to retrieve the belt and get to the ground, which makes it a favourable spot for the WWE to separate the Raw and SmackDown titles and crown separate champions for both brands and letting the champions retain the belt of one brand while simultaneously allowing one more team to have their WrestleMania moment.
Prediction- The Judgment Day (Finn Bálor and Damian Priest) retains RAW tag team titles, while the New Catch Republic (Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate) wins the SmackDown tag team titles, or the New Catch Republic (Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate) def The Judgment Day (Finn Bálor and Damian Priest) vs #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) vs The Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth) vs The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) vs A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory and Grayson Waller) to win the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship.
From being one of the most dominant tag team champions in the company’s history and main eventing night one of Wrestlemania 39 to going their separate way of separate brands only to stand face-to-face at WrestleMania 40. The story of the USO brothers has finally come full circle, and after losing a number of matches in the past year due to Jimmy, Jey is more than likely to get one over his twin brother and get some momentum back on his side.
Prediction- Jey Uso def. Jimmy Uso
The battle of David vs Goliath is one to look out for, as while Sami won his last WrestleMania match to win the Undisputed Tag Team titles, things have gone downhill for the ultimate underdog since then. On the other hand, everything has gone Gunther’s way, as he is now the longest-reigning Intercontinental champion of all time. While it is tough to bet against Guinther and the kind of run he is on, nonetheless, Sami is more likely to pick up the win with extra help from Chad Gable, making him a serious competition in the company once again.
Prediction- Sami Zayn def Gunther
“Mami” Rhea Ripley against “The Man” Becky Lynch is going to be one of the most anticipated matches of this year’s WrestleMania, as these two women are not very different from each other, as both of them got the backing of fans no matter what character they are playing. Both of them received an overwhelming push, and they managed to capitalise in their favour. If we have to talk about the winning chances, Becky will definitely have the upper hand if WWE wants to take the title off of Rhea, no other option is better than Becky, as she can elevate Rhea further despite defeating her in the match, a rare quality which makes Becky one of the top stars of the company.
Prediction- Becky Lynch def Rhea Ripley
In simple words, Rock and Roman have to win. You cannot give yourself an option to make the main event of WrestleMania more exhilarating and not act on it. The loss will mean Cody has to climb even higher mountains in order to finish his story, which evidently means the final chapter of Roman and Cody will be an even bigger feast for the fans.
Prediction- Roman Reigns and The Rock def Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins
After months of build-up, The Pride (Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits) finally have a meaningful feud on their hand. Both teams have promising stars, and whoever wins this match can have a significant run going forward. However, after a number of beatdowns received by The Pride by The Final Testament, the former is more than likely to pick up a win and get back on the winning ways.
Prediction- The Pride (Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits) def The Final Testament (Karrion Kross, Akam, and Rezar)
Styles vs Knight is one of those matches which is not talked about more often in an event filled with high stakes matches, but have all the capabilities to steal the spotlight from every other matches completely. Styles costed Knight at the elimination chamber a chance at World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins, leading to this match. Both the superstars are huge names at the moment in the company, and a win here can take the winner into the title picture, given all the other feuds are about to end after WrestleMania, and WWE will need new storylines going forward.
Prediction- LA Knight def AJ Styles
Another under-the-radar match of the event, which can surprise everyone, is the United States Championship match. Randy Orton and Kevin Owens are both veterans of the company, while the newcomer Logan has shown how good he can be inside the ring. The match is going to be filled with ups and downs, and with the triple-threat match allowing outside interference to take place, Logan is likely to keep the title after causing an outside distraction.
Prediction- Logan Paul def Kevin Owens vs Randy Orton
The battle of friend-turn opponents, Bayley vs Iyo, is a guaranteed blockbuster of the match, and with the Damage CNTRL by Iyo’s side, Bayley might have to ask some favour from the newly formed team of Bianca, Jade and Naomi if she wants to win. Keeping this aside, Bayley is likely to win the match, as it has been a long time since she last won a title and would need some extra hardware around her waste in order to make her face turn more relevant.
Prediction- Bayley def Iyo Sky
Another match is going to be heavily influenced by Bloodline despite the fact that none of its members are participating due to Seth’s alliance with Cody. Seth’s will likely to be written off, given his medical history for some time, which makes Drew a favourite to win the match and leave WrestleMania 40 as the new WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Prediction- Drew McIntyre def Seth Rollins
The match everyone is looking forward to, with the stakes and star cast involved, can easily be one of the best WrestleMania main events of all time, if not the best. The match will be heavily influenced by outside interference (If Roman and Rock pick up a win on night 1), which can add a number of angles and memorable moments, eventually making it a see-saw event. However, you cannot build a star for three years only to give him back-to-back heartbreaks at the grandest stage of them all, which means Cody is finally going to complete his story, although not without some help.
Prediction- Cody Rhodes def Roman Reigns
