US House won’t vote on gun control at least until September: Kevin McCarthy

Amid deep divisions in Republican ranks, a failure to vote on legislation this week means that nothing will happen in the House on gun control until September 6.

The US House of Representatives will not vote on a bill limiting weapons sales to people on terrorism watch lists before leaving at the end of this week for a long summer break, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy told reporters on Tuesday.

Amid deep divisions in Republican ranks, a failure to vote on legislation this week means that nothing will happen in the House on gun control until September 6, when the House will return from its summer break.
