An Egyptian Islamic State affiliate has claimed responsibility for an attack on a hotel near the Giza Pyramids, which Egypt said has produced no casualties.

In a statement carried by IS supporters on Twitter on Friday, the group claimed the attack a day earlier left dead and injured among tourists and the security officers protecting the hotel.

The Associated Press could not independently verify the authenticity of the claim.
