Three members of an Indian-origin family were killed in a car crash in Texas on Wednesday, with the 14-year-old son as the sole survivor. Arvind Mani, 45, his wife Pradeepa Arvind, 40, and their 17-year-old daughter Andril Arvind were on their way to the University of Texas at Dallas, where Andril was set to start college. Around 6 am on August 14, their vehicle collided with a Cadillac CTS that had experienced a rear tire blowout on US Highway 281, causing it to lose control and veer into oncoming traffic, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) informed. The Arvind family resided in Leander, Texas. Their only surviving immediate family member is 14-year-old Adiryan, who was not in the car at the time of the accident. A GoFundMe campaign was launched by family friend Rajaraman Venkatachalam to assist Adiryan with legal and educational expenses. As of Thursday afternoon, the campaign had raised over $400,000 from more than 8,300 donations, according to a report by KCENTV. "Adiryan, who had just started 9th grade, was unable to join his family on the trip and now faces life without them. This young boy, with many dreams and aspirations, needs our support for funeral arrangements, legal matters, and ongoing care, including educational expenses. Your contributions will help him navigate this challenging time alongside his uncle's family in Austin," reads the GoFundMe post.
