Until the latest outcome projected on NBC and CNN, the Republicans flipped seven seats while Democrats flipped six seats with a net GOP gain of one seat. Till now, Republicans have won 218 seats which is needed to capture the majority in the House and Democrats’ 208 seats. Earlier, the Republicans flipped three Democratic Senate seats to have control in the Senate.

“It is a beautiful morning in Washington. It is a new day in America. The sun is shining, and that is a reflection about how we all feel,” said Speaker Mike Johnson, on the stairs of the US Capitol led by his leadership team as he is endorsed by Donald Trump to continue as the Speaker of the House of Representatives for two more years.

With control of the White House and majorities in both chambers of the Congress, the Republicans would find it easy to unite under Trump’s leadership and get the policies passed and implemented in a non-conflict way. Republicans gained control of the House in 2022 and retaining it in 2024 has bolstered Speaker Mike Johnson’s prospects.

Trump has already announced a major part of his leadership team who’ll be running the administration and the president-elect even met President Joe Biden at the White House on Wednesday.
