At least 30 militants killed as Pakistan jets bomb hideouts

At least 30 militants were killed as fighter jets targeted militant hideouts in the restive North Waziristan.

At least 30 militants were killed as fighter jets targeted militant hideouts in the restive North Waziristan tribal region, Pakistan’s military said on Tuesday.

The jets targeted at least four militant hideouts, which were destroyed, a military statement said.

According to sources, Daud Matta, a key Pakistani Taliban commander, was also killed in the strike which took place in North Waziristan’s Datta Khel area, the Dawn reported.

The media has no access to the area, making it difficult to verify the information from independent sources.

Military operation Zarb-i-Azb was launched by the Pakistan Army on June 15 following a brazen militant attack on Karachi’s international airport and failure of peace talks between the government and Pakistani Taliban negotiators.
