Nasdaq said on Friday it had dismissed an employee after she made social media posts about the fatal shooting of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
Kirk, a close supporter of US President Donald Trump, was shot dead on Wednesday while speaking at a university in Utah.
“Nasdaq has a zero-tolerance policy toward violence and any commentary that condones or celebrates violence,” the company said in a statement on X.

A person familiar with the matter told Reuters the woman was a junior sustainability strategist at the company. No further details were given.
Kirk had more than 5 million followers on X and was host of the podcast and radio show The Charlie Kirk Show. He had also recently appeared as a guest co-host on Fox News’ Fox & Friends, Reuters said.
His death has prompted anger among Trump’s supporters, with some pointing to online posts that appeared to celebrate the killing as proof that conservatives are being targeted, according to Reuters.
