Britain’s Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, announced on Monday that she has completed her course of preventative chemotherapy for cancer. In a heartfelt video message shared on social media, the 42-year-old royal reflected on her challenging journey and discussed her plans for the future.

Kate, who is married to Prince William, heir to the British throne, underwent major abdominal surgery in January. The surgery revealed the presence of cancer, and since then, she has been undergoing treatment. The Princess of Wales expressed relief at finishing her chemotherapy, but acknowledged that her path to full recovery would be a long one.

In conjunction with her latest announcement, Kensington Palace released a deeply personal video of Kate with Prince William and their three children, filmed in Norfolk.

In the video message, Kate shared her emotional experience, saying, “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment.” She described the past nine months as “incredibly tough” for her family, acknowledging the sudden and profound impact of her diagnosis.

“The cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you,” Kate continued. “With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.”

Kate and Prince William have used this time to reflect on the simple yet important aspects of life, expressing gratitude for the love and support they have received. “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved,” she said.

The Princess emphasized that her focus is now on staying cancer-free and continuing her journey toward full recovery. “Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she stated. However, she expressed enthusiasm about returning to her royal duties and participating in public engagements in the coming months.

Kate’s video message also acknowledged the overwhelming support she and Prince William have received during this difficult time. She expressed her deep appreciation for the kindness, empathy, and compassion extended by others, noting that it has been “truly humbling.”
