(AP/PTI)After US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Iran have reached a ceasefire agreement, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said that there has been “no agreement” on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations with Israel, while adding that if Israel stops its “illegal aggression” now, Iran has no intention to continue its response afterwards. Israel is yet to officially confirm the ceasefire development. This comes after Iran targeted America’s Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar with a barrage of missiles on Monday night (around 10 pm IST) which triggered air space closure in several gulf countries.
Iran’s response to US strikes: Explosions were heard over Doha, Qatar, as Iran reportedly launched six missiles targeting US air bases, according to an Axios reporter citing an Israeli official. A Western diplomat told Reuters that a credible Iranian threat to the Al Udeid Air Base—America’s largest in the Middle East—has existed since noon Monday. Qatar has temporarily shut down its airspace for safety, and British and US citizens have been advised to shelter in place.
