Billionaire Elon Musk plans to spend election night at Mar-a-Lago alongside former President Donald J. Trump, potentially giving Trump direct access to a key social media platform at a crucial moment, according to three sources familiar with Musk’s schedule, according to a report by The New York Times.
This collaboration could provide a significant advantage to Trump’s campaign, as Musk has ownership of X (formerly Twitter), a platform influential for sharing information in real-time.
Musk, who has become a prominent Trump supporter, is expected to join an exclusive group watching election results with the former president at his Florida estate, according to two insiders. The evening’s gatherings will include various levels of exclusivity, with select donors joining a small, private dinner, followed by a larger event at the Palm Beach Convention Center where Trump is set to deliver a speech.
Musk has demonstrated his support for Trump through substantial financial backing, having donated at least $119 million to a super PAC for Trump and organizing events in key swing states such as Pennsylvania. Additionally, Musk and Trump reportedly communicate multiple times each week.
Concerns have arisen among Democrats that Musk’s ownership of X could facilitate the spread of election misinformation. In recent weeks, Musk has posted early voting data suggesting an overwhelming lead for Trump in Pennsylvania, along with comments casting doubt on voting machine reliability.
In the lead-up to the election, Musk characterized this political moment as “existential” for the country, implying potential risks to democracy if Trump were to lose.
