‘Just like I got India, Pakistan…’: Trump says Israel-Iran ‘will make a deal’, claims meetings are on
Donald Trump added that discussions between Israel and Iran are ongoing. “Many calls and meetings now taking place,” he said, without giving details.

In a characteristically self-congratulatory post on his Truth Social platform, US President Donald Trump claimed he could secure peace between Iran and Israel — two arch-rivals in the Middle East involved in escalating tensions right now — and suggested backchannel talks were already underway.
“Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal,” Trump wrote on Sunday, adding that he intends to replicate what he claimed were successful diplomatic interventions. “Just like I got India and Pakistan to make (a deal), in that case by using TRADE with the United States to bring reason, cohesion, and sanity into the talks with two excellent leaders who were able to quickly make a decision and STOP!”
Trump was referring to the United States’ supposed role in brokering peace between India and Pakistan last month after a full-blown military escalation between the nuclear-armed neighbours. India has maintained that a ceasefire agreement was reached diplomatically between the two nations.
Trump also declared that his leadership prevented escalations in Serbia-Kosovo — a region with deep-rooted ethnic tensions — during his previous term in office. “Biden has hurt the longer term prospects with some very stupid decisions, but I will fix it, again!” he said.
He also claimed to broker peace between Egypt and Ethiopia over the Nile dispute. “Another case is Egypt and Ethiopia, and their fight over a massive dam that is having an effect on the magnificent Nile River. There is peace, at least for now, because of my intervention, and it will stay that way!” he wrote.
He also added that discussions between Israel and Iran are ongoing. “Many calls and meetings now taking place,” he said, without giving details.
“I do a lot, and never get credit for anything, but that’s OK, the people understand,” he said in the same post, which ended with his signature flourish, with a twist: “Make the Middle East Great Again!
The Israel-Iran escalations
On June 13, Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, a military offensive targeting over 170 sites and 720 military infrastructure facilities in Iran, including nuclear facilities at Natanz, Khondab, and Khorramabad, as well as military bases and missile production sites.
The conflict between Israel and Iran intensified overnight, marked by a series of devastating airstrikes and missile exchanges.
Leaders from both countries insist that the fighting will persist, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowing relentless attacks and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) promising a “more forceful and expansive” response.
So far, 14 senior Iranian officials have been killed including high-ranking officials and nuclear scientists.
Iranian state media also reported 60 civilian deaths, including 20 children, in a strike on a Tehran apartment building.
Iran retaliated with approximately 200 ballistic missiles and 100 drones targeting Israel, striking military and civilian sites, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
The Israeli Defence Forces reported 22 impact sites where missiles evaded air defences or debris from intercepted missiles caused damage. At least 10 Israelis were killed, with over 100 injured.
