Weather forecast Today HIGHLIGHTS: The overall air quality in Delhi on Wednesday was recorded at 269 on the Air Quality Index, which falls in the ‘poor’ category, according to the Centre’s air quality monitoring agency SAFAR. However, parts of the national capital region witnessed ‘very poor’ air quality, including Chandni Chowk and Noida.
Calm wind speed, low temperature and reduced intensity of sunlight are likely to cause the air quality to deteriorate on Thursday and Friday. It could fall to the ‘severe’ category, SAFAR said.

In other weather-related news, parts of South India will experience thunderstorms accompanied with lightning today. ‘Heavy rainfall’ is predicted in parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, south interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe and Rayalseema will witness thunderstorm activity, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Jammu and Kashmir can expect heavy rains or snowfall on Thursday and Friday, or thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and hail, the IMD has said. Himachal Pradesh, too, will experience thunderstorm or hailstorms with lightening.
The overall Delhi AQI was recorded at 269 this morning, according to SAFAR. The air quality is expected to dip by the end of the week and could fall to 'severe' levels. The minimum and maximum temperatures were recorded at 12.3 and 27.1 degrees Celsius respectively. The city will see cloudy skies today.
Parts of Punjab and Haryana will see 'moderate to dense fog', the IMD has said. Meanwhile, residents of Chandigarh can expect generally cloudy skies with a haze today. The temperature is likely to settle at 13 degrees Celsius.
The IMD has warned of 'heavy rainfall' at isolated places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal today. Parts of the state had witnessed thunderstorms on Tuesday. Chennai city in particular will see cloudy skies with light rain or drizzle. The maximum and minimum temperature in the city will be recorded at 32 and 25 degrees Celsius respectively.
