Can you imagine Indian billionaires Anand Mahindra and Mukesh Ambani hailing an Uber to reach their destination in Washington DC? Well, that is what happened, and the Mahindra Group chairperson on Twitter shared the reason behind it.
Mahindra also shared an iconic selfie with Ambani, 3rdiTech co-founder Vrinda Kapoor and astronaut Sunita Williams, whom they bumped into. Mahindra and Ambani were in Washington DC, to attend a state dinner organised in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
After the State Dinner on Thursday night, Mahindra and Ambani joined the likes of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Apple CEO Tim Cook in the East Room of the White House on Friday for an India-US Hi-Tech Handshake meeting.
Mahindra shared his “Washington moment” as after the tech handshake meeting, he and Ambani and Kapoor were conversing with US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo and missed the group shuttle bus to the next engagement.
They were trying to call an Uber when they ran into NASA astronaut Sunita Williams and clicked this iconic selfie.
“I suppose this was what they would call a ‘Washington moment.’ After the tech handshake meeting yesterday, Mukesh Ambani, Vrinda Kapoor & I were continuing a conversation with the Secretary of Commerce & missed the group shuttle bus to the next lunch engagement. We were trying to call an Uber when we ran into NASA astronaut Sunita Williams @Astro_Suni Time for a selfie & we also asked if we could hitch a ride on her space shuttle instead of an Uber,” Mahindra wrote.
“Great personalities and the pride of India in one frame,” commented a user. “A Washington moment indeed, what an honor for @Uber to have the greatest sons of hitching a ride with them,” wrote another. “How do you prioritise to make such tweets showing the human side of you so often? Please share your secret behind investing your time & efforts on Twitter Anand jii!!!!!!” another person expressed.
