Work-life balance in India continues to face scrutiny, with several professionals calling out their bosses and management for glorifying unhealthy work environments. A US vlogger reignited the debate after he spotted an Indian woman working outdoors at night.

In the viral video, the vlogger, @jaystreazy, approaches a woman sitting outdoors with her laptop and working. “Excuse me, ma’am. I’m curious. Are you working right now?” he asks. “Yeah,” she responds. Jay continues, “Can I ask you a couple of questions? Would you mind?” to which she responds, “You can ask.”

“My name is Princy.” Jay replies, “Princy. It’s nice to meet you. You don’t have to tell me what company, but what type of work do you do?” She replies, “I work for a pharmaceutical company.”

As the video progresses, Jay notes the time and asks if it is normal for her to be working so late every day. “It’s usual for me,” she responds.

Expressing his surprise, Jay says, “I see a lot of people working so hard out here and it’s kind of new to me.” To this, Princy replies, “You are also working now.”

“It’s not really work. It’s more of a hobby. One day I hope that, you know, it pops off,” Streazy replies.

Sharing the video, he wrote, “Late-Night Work in India.”

The video quickly gained traction, sparking a fresh debate on work culture in India. “Indians often have to align their work hours with customers in Europe or the US,” a user argued. “We are not hourly paid in India and that’s a Sad thing,” another user commented.

“Work life balance is a lost art in India mate,” a third user reacted. “India’s massive population means that work life balance is a luxury for 1% of the people,” a fourth user chimed in.
