A Tamil Nadu pilot’s sincere effort to make an in-flight announcement in Hindi has won hearts, leaving social media users applauding his attempt.

The viral Instagram video, originally shared by IndiGo pilot Pradeep Krishnan, shows him speaking broken Hindi with endearing honesty while also using gestures to get his message across whenever he struggles with words.

He begins the announcement by saying, “Mera Hindi sundar hai, sab adjust kar lega” (My Hindi is beautiful, please adjust). Informing passengers that the flight from Patna to Chennai could experience turbulence, he adorably compensates for not knowing the exact Hindi word by making a sound effect and accompanying it with a hand gesture.

Despite the slip, the pilot carries on with the rest of the announcement in a lighthearted manner. Sharing the video, he wrote, “Hindi theriyum po da! Olunga seat belt podaegi? which loosely translates into, “You know Hindi, go man! Will you wear a seat belt properly?”

The video quickly gained traction, with the pilot winning plaudits for his genuine attempt. “That’s very cute. Full marks for trying to speak in a language which is not your mother tongue,” a user wrote. “Captain – Aapki Hindi bahut sundar hai, important is getting the message across to passengers which you did with words and actions. I am sure everyone paid attention to your message!” another user commented.

“I truly appreciate this, and I hope everyone keeps the same mindset when someone speaks English like this,” a third user reacted. “I wish others would learn South language too. I am Kannadiga aur mujhe Hindi achi tarha se ataa hai. Good job sir. All the best,” a fourth user said
