Indian Railways has undergone a major revamp in the last few years with the launch of express trains like Vande Bharat and Tejas but when it comes to cleanliness, a lot is still left to be desired. A video of a housekeeping staff cleaning a train coach is going viral because of the way he deals with the waste.
A man named Saurabh (@trains_of_india) took to X to share a video of the railway employee cleaning a rail coach with a wiper. After gathering the waste, such as wrappers and plastic bottles, he is seen throwing it onto the railway track of the moving train instead of gathering it in a waste bag. The user who posted the video claimed that this was a regular occurrence in almost all of the trains.
“Swach Bharat Abhiyan ft Indian Railways!! Regular scene in almost 99% of the trains running in IR, Not sure about protocols but this is failure of system, Thousands of tonnes of waste dumped daily on tracks, Who should be held accountable for this? @RailMinIndia @RailwaySeva,” the man posted.
Watch the video below:
“If you think it’s just limited to few trains then you’re wrong, Apart from few trains like Vande Bharat & Tejas, This practice is carried in every other train in India, Higher official are well aware about it but who cares?” Saurabh wrote in another tweet.
In another video that he posted, the same railway employee is seen clearing out the dustbin and then dumping the waste in the same manner onto the railway track.
Central Railway (@Central_Railway) responded to the post and asked the user to specify the train number and date of this incident to initiate action.
“This is happening in all the trains, You need not to be train specific, Pick any train and ask the cleaning staff about how many bags of Garbage they have collected till now,” Saurabh posted.
“This is correct. This happens in all trains .I have experienced it in Udyaan Express in January,” a user commented. “I have also seen this in several train and given a complaint also but no one cares. Specially in train no 12534 and 12533 12107 and 12108,” another person wrote. “Strict punishment is the only solution,” said a third.
