It looks like actor Shah Rukh Khan can now join the likes of Sister Shivani and Asaram Bapu — spiritual gurus with a huge number of followers who claim to have been cured of depression because of their teachings.
An SRK fan recently claimed that the iconic dialogue from Khan’s Om Shanti Om — “Picture abhi baaki hai, mere dost” — helped him recover from depression. On December 5, Delhi-based Ravi Kapoor posted a series of tweets narrating his life story.
Kapoor explained how he battled with clinical depression for 11 months and even stayed on the road for 46 days. It was a chance encounter with his favourite actor’s epic dialogue that resulted in an epiphany, and Kapoor decided not to give up on life.
I’ve always admired @deepikapadukone because she’s not only a good looking actor, she’s someone who battled & defeated depression. I 💖 her.

And I can connect with her because I also battled the same for 11 months. @ikaveri @Netra @Harneetsin enquired about me during that period.

Each day, I used to struggle getting up from the bed. Getting ready for work seemed like ages. Used to board Metro & kept sitting for hours.

One day, I simply left my home, boarded Metro, got down at Kashmere Gate station, entered ISBT & sat on the iron bench in waiting lounge.

I sat/slept on that iron bench at Kashmere Gate ISBT for 46 days. Yes. I didn’t went back home for 46 days. My folks were worried back home.

I used to observe people. Silently. After 46 days, when I had ₹20 left in my wallet, I thought this is the end. But then, @iamsrk saved me.

A guy sat down next to me, was reading @htcity & it had a pic of @iamsrk with his Om Shanti Om dialog, “Picture abhi baaki hai, mere dost!”
— Ravi Kapoor (@RaviKapoor) December 5, 2015
That quote from @iamsrk jolted me out of my 11-month depression. I decided, I’ll rebuild my destiny. I returned home, comforted my parents.

Kapoor’s tweet went viral and caught the attention of the scriptwriter of the film, Mayur Puri.
Well.. SRK saved him. I’m just the guy with some words. @iamsrk is the idea that gives hope to people. https://t.co/jN1cR7BEiU

And then came the masterstroke moment in the whole episode when King Khan himself assured the man on Twitter.
May Allah give you many more reasons to have a good life my man. https://t.co/UOITOrKCDU

Going by his Twitter account, the man breathes Bollywood.
During my last 24 years of professional life, I worked across multiple industries but one thing always remained same: my 💖 for #Bollywood.
— Ravi Kapoor (@RaviKapoor) December 5, 2015
Whenever I felt low in life, I entered cinema halls in #Delhi, watched #Bollywood films, and came out feeling good about everything in life.
