Numerous anecdotes of ‘peak Bengaluru’ moments, a term coined to depict the attention-grabbing occurrences in India’s IT hub, are abound on the internet. One such post shared by user @ravihanda on X has captured the eyeballs.
The post shows the exorbitant parking fees in Bengaluru.
The image features a sign displaying an hourly rate of Rs 1,000 for parking. The accompanying caption exclaimed, “Prices in Bangalore have truly gone insane. ₹1000 per hour for parking. It’s absurd!’ The post has garnered over 5 million views and 7.6k likes. The parking sign is located at UB City, near Vittal Mallya Road.
One commenter humorously speculated, ‘What do you get in premium parking? A car wash?’ Another remarked, ‘Indeed. I stumbled upon a Reddit post from 2015 with identical pricing. At least there’s been no inflation.’
A third commenter quipped, ‘For Jaguar or Ferrari owners, this is chump change… Essentially, it’s a tactic to indirectly reserve parking spaces for premium car owners and deter others from occupying them. We ought to be more concerned about hospitals charging parking fees for outpatient visits.’
From a toddler who simulated traffic jams with toy cars to ‘No parking’ signs to ominous warning of ‘The wrath of the ancients,’ Bengaluru never fails to stay on trend.
