In a jaw-dropping video that’s gone viral online, a man was seen dangerously approaching a lion mid-meal, risking his life for a close-up shot. As the lion feasted on its prey, the man inched closer with his phone, trying to capture the moment, a move many called foolish and reckless.
The video, filmed by onlookers from a safe distance, shows the lion initially ignoring the man. But within seconds, the big cat snaps; it growls, lunges, and briefly shoves the man before returning to its meal. The man somehow walked away unharmed. Background voices in the clip capture the alarm of those watching, with some gasping as the lion made its move.
Social media didn’t hold back. Comments ranged from sarcastic to scathing. One user said, “Why women live longer than men,” while another noted, “He’s lucky that he didn’t turn his back, the story would have ended differently.”
A more serious comment said, “People have become so insane in selfies and photo-ops that they don’t care about themselves, nor do they think about their family, parents, husband, wife, children. Is a video or photo more important in a person’s life?”
This isn’t the first time someone’s brush with wildlife has sparked a debate on the Internet. Recently, Canadian travel vlogger Nolan Saumure went viral after a tense moment with a wild elephant in India. While riding a scooter down a forest road, he came face to face with the giant animal and was seen asking, “Why are you chilling on the road, sir?”
Things quickly escalated when another scooter rider appeared and froze just metres from the elephant. That pause seemed to trigger the animal, which suddenly charged. The man managed to spin around and speed off just in time, narrowly escaping what could have been a terrifying outcome.
