After the Rameshwaram Cafe, another popular eatery in Telangana––Chutneys––is under scrutiny after a man found hair in the ‘chutney’ served to him. After the incident, associate medical officer of health (AMOH), Kapra imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the restaurant under Section 674 of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Act, 1955, reports said.

The photo shared by the customer Umesh Kumar on X shows a strand of hair in the coconut chutney he was served. The bill shows Kumar ordered steamed dosa, idli, “MLA” dosa, and mineral water at the eatery. “Found a hair in the chutney at Chutneys, A S Rao Nagar, near Radhika, ECIL. Brought it to the notice of the Chutneys’ manager, and he accepted it and replaced the food with a new dish. However, it was an unpleasant experience,” Kumar wrote on X.

Kumar further highlighted the total dissolved solids (TDS) ratings on the mineral water bottles he ordered. “Also I would like to draw your attention to the Bisleri water bottle which I had purchased from chutneys. TDS ratings were 80, 75 & 74 when checked at my home. Is it portable (potable) if the values are below 75?” he wrote.

The customer also shared a screenshot of a few Google reviews slamming the eatery over hygiene issues. “Chutenys AS Rao Nagar is serving unhygienic and expired food, pls see the pics shared,” a review read.

“Went for lunch (South Indian Meals) there and had to leave without eating my meal because of these issues. There was dust in the ghee container and curd packet served belongs to May month bus has been overwritten as June,” it read.

Following the raids, the eatery’s co-founder Raghavendra Rao had released a video apology.
