Multi-Michelin-starred chef and television personality Gordon Ramsay is popular not just for his exemplary cooking skills but also for roasting bad cooks with sharp one-liners.

However, earlier this week the UK chef found himself on the receiving side of criticism when people roasted him for “improperly cooking rogan josh”. Rogan josh is a red meat-based curry dish that traces its origins to Kashmir.

On March 12, Ramsay shared a video in which he serves a dish of rogan josh and wrote, “Introducing the new, fragrant Lamb Rogan Josh from @breadstreetkitchen – served with saffron rice and warm garlic naan ! Head to my stories to book your table today Gx”.

While this video got over 35,000 likes, in the comments, many people pointed out problems with the dish such as the naan was too thin, the serving style was wrong, and the portions were too small.

Indian food writer and chef Maunika Gowardhan commented, “Why is that naan going inside a kadhai?!”. Another person wrote, “Im sorry to say man. Thats not rogan josh. The cut of the meat is wrong. The gravy is wrong. Even the naan is wrong. Im a big fan but being a kashmiri who cooks and rogan josh being one of the fav dishes. I cant accept that dish. Special the gravy you made. Thats my 2 cents.”

A miffed follower remarked, “You needa stop white washing our cuisines man. This is nothing close to authentic rogan josh. It don’t gotta be pretty! It has to taste good. Wouldn’t feed it to my worst enemies”.

Last month, Ramsay posted a video of his butter chicken recipe but it failed to impress many Indians who called it bland and missing many key ingredients.
