After backlash over CEO’s ‘Ok Tata Bye Bye’ post, Paytm issues apology

After Vijay Shekhar Sharma, the CEO of Paytm, received widespread flak for his tribute to the late Ratan Tata, particularly for the punning phrase “Ok Tata Bye Bye,” the company has now issued an apology on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

“We deeply regret any hurt caused by a recent post about Mr Ratan Tata. His passing is a great loss for the nation and we are truly saddened. The integrity, compassion and kindness Mr Tata exemplified has left a profound mark on every Indian. He will always be cherished in our hearts and his remarkable legacy will continue to guide us. India’s Ratna, India’s legend always,” the tweet read.

Ratan Tata, who passed away at the age of 86 on October 10, was celebrated for his visionary leadership and philanthropic efforts, leaving behind a remarkable legacy. The final rites of Tata were held with full state honors in Mumbai, attended by Home Minister Amit Shah, who represented Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
