There’s no denying that last weekend all eyes were on India’s most opulent wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, which took place at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. While thousands of high-profile guests gathered to be a part of the Ambanis’ celebrations, millions worldwide spent hours scrolling their mobile phones. The wedding was nothing less than a Coachella as it also saw a lineup of majestic singers — Shreya Ghoshal, Jonita Gandhi, Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan, Neeti Mohan, Sukhwinder Singh, Mohit Chauhan, Shuba and Yashika Sikka, curated by the legendary AR Rahman.

Yashika Sikka, who gained prominence with ‘Tu Kya Jaane’ in Amar Singh Chamkila, performed the song live at the starry wedding. Imagine the thrill of performing alongside the icons whose works have shaped the very fabric of the Indian music industry. It’s nothing less than the pinnacle of success.

“Those 2 days felt like they were straight out of a film. The lineup was legendary and it was really on Sir’s part (AR Rahman) to fit me in the scheme of things, amongst those Artists. It is an insane level of trust in my talent, and I promise that I will honour it, respect it and I will work the hardest I have ever worked,” Sikka said.

Sharing the best memory from the performance at the wedding, Sikka lauded Shreya Ghoshal and her humility. “Just prior to ‘Tu Kya Jaane’, Shreya ji was singing ‘Chaka Chak’. And once she finished, Rahman sir narrated the story of him calling Shreya ji (for ‘Tu Kya Jaane’) and her being unavailable and the song coming to me. Shreya ji was so graceful and loving about it on stage. I will never ever forget this moment,” the singer said.

“She even went up to say that ‘I’m glad I didn’t take up the call. She delivered it so beautifully’. This has to be the compliment of my whole life. I ended up touching her feet and I had tears in my eyes because I didn’t expect any of it,” she added.

Speaking about the grandeur, Sikka said, “Every corner of the venue was literally very aesthetic. It was a proper photographer’s delight. So intricate details at every corner. It takes a lot of dedication to do an event like that. It was insane.”

“My friend said the food was really good. I couldn’t have it because I was on diet,” she said about the food served at the Ambani wedding (kudos to her dedication!).

The biggest buzz on social media currently is about Nita and Mukesh Ambani personally greeting their guests, which is quite challenging when you’re hosting over a thousand celebrities. “Nita ji was too kind. We were meeting for the first time, but she took time to talk to me briefly, appreciated my performance, and clicked a picture with me. It was really warm on her part to be doing this, after having attending thousands of guests,” Sikka said.

Anant Ambani, the youngest son of billionaires Nita and Mukesh Ambani, tied the knot with Radhika Merchant, daughter of Viren and Shaila Merchant, on July 12. Their wedding festivities began on July 5 with a sangeet, a pre-wedding event where the bride, groom, and their families perform choreographed dances on stage and an electrifying performance by Justin Bieber. The celebrations ended with ‘Mangal Utsav’ on July 14.
