Manette Baillie, a British woman, has become the UK’s oldest skydiver at 102, leaving the internet stunned. Baillie took the plunge and jumped from a height of 7,000 feet on her 102nd birthday in the skydive organised at the Beccles Airfield.
In the viral video shared by the Daily Mail, Baillie can be seen jumping out of the plane with her instructor. The video also captures the stunning blue sky and the bird’s eye view of the terrain, as Baillie makes a smooth landing and calls her experience “wonderful”.
Sharing the video on Instagram, the Daily Mail wrote, “A 102-year-old woman celebrated her birthday by throwing herself out of a small plane. The fearless centenarian, Manette Baillie, became Britain’s oldest skydiver after completing the 7,000 foot.”

The video caught the attention of several social media users who hailed Baillie’s grit. A user commented, “Wow .. I m so happy for her .. I really don’t have this courage.” Another user wrote, “I’m half her age and I feel my bones creaking just watching this!Good for her.”
“Very brave. How wonderful to fulfill your dream at that age,” a third user reacted.
Speaking to BBC Radio Suffolk, Baillie said she wants people who are nearly 80 and 90 not to give up. “It was a bit scary. I must admit I shut my eyes very firmly. I just want other people who are getting towards 80 and 90 not to give up anything. Just keep going. I’ve been so lucky to be fit and well that I’ve got to do something with it, that’s really the back of it,” she said.
In 2022, Baillie, who hails from the Benhall Green village in Eastern England, drove around the Silverstone motor racing circuit in a Ferrari at 210 kilometres per hour on her 100th birthday, the BBC reported.
